ego HT2601E 56V Lithium Ion Battery 66cm (26") Hedge Cutter Kit

The HT2601E is the largest of EGO's three hedge trimmer kits, with a 66cm blade, a 30.5mm cutting capacity and a faster 3,400 strokes-per-minute blade speed. It is also the only one of the three with a rotating rear handle, which is the feature worth paying for. It lets you turn the handle rather than your wrist when you are cutting the vertical face of a hedge.

Where it earns its money is thick, established growth. That 30.5mm capacity takes stems the 51cm HT2001E (25mm) and 61cm HT2411E (26mm) will stall on, so if your hedges have got away from you over a season or two, this is the one to have.

Worth being straight about the trade-off, because most people who come in asking for the 66cm do not need it. At 3.21kg before the battery goes on, it is over a kilo heavier than the HT2001E, and you feel that after ten minutes with your arms above your head. If your hedges are ordinary garden height and thickness, the shorter models are easier to live with and cheaper to buy. Buy the blade length you need, not the longest one on the shelf.

Supplied as a kit with a 2.5Ah battery and standard charger, both of which fit every other tool on EGO's 56V platform. If you already own an EGO battery, buy the tool-only HT2600E at £199 instead and save yourself £140. EGO cover it with a 5-year domestic warranty, or 1 year in professional use.
