This is the cartridge for a lawn that has gone spongy and coarse, where runners and lateral growth have started to smother the finer grasses. It is more aggressive than the spring tine scarifier, so use it in April through October when the lawn has the growing conditions to recover, and expect it to look worse before it looks better.
